It’s been a minute, well nine days but Mexico and tequila can make one lose track of time. I am proud to say that the only other thing I lost in Mexico was a hat. It was $1 hat, so I hope someone else enjoys it as much as I did. This trip to Mexico was my first, but I guarantee it won’t be my last. I learned so much, yet so little in the short time, I was there. I also fell in love with this culture immediately. I am already planning my next trip.
The beach in Melaque, Mexico was one of my favorite parts of the trip. We were in San Patricio, and it was gorgeous. A stunning beach surrounded by mountains. It is not crowded this time of year. One thing I should mention about the ocean in Mexico, it is rough. It will take you down. Trying to get past the break is a workout in itself. And the country was built on the sun so take SPF 975, or you will get burned to a crisp. I used sunscreen, wore a hat, and stayed under an umbrella. It’s. That. Serious.
If you like spicy food, this is the country for you. Mexico has some hot food. I don’t mean just spicy, I mean it is hot af. I got some chips and salsa, because, Mexico, chips and salsa with everything. No one disclosed that it was torch flavored salsa. At one meal we got a little sampler of salsa and what I assumed was dips. I tried this cucumber dip; it looked so cool and refreshing. It was green fire AKA habanero salsa. Taco stands were abundant in Mexico, and I was the happiest about this. The tacos alone are worth the trip.
I highly suggest a trip that does not require an all-inclusive resort. While an all-inclusive resort is more relaxing and will have more amenities, this trip allowed me to experience the real Mexican culture. I got to experience three small villages and a huge Mexican city. I saw many Mexico markets and fruit stands, and I even went to a huge luxury mall. Because what is any trip without shopping? It was a trip that I will remember forever.
Your turn: Have you ever been to Mexico? If so, Where did you go? If not, do you ever plan to go? Tell me all the details in the comments.
