Spring 2019 Trends {Tuesday Ten}

Spring 2019 Trends {Tuesday Ten}

All the trends you need for Spring are in today’s blog post including classic staples, styling tips, and a hack to soften stiff tee’s.

Floss sandals are a huge trend for spring, and I am here for it. I bought this pair three weeks ago, and I have almost worn them out. The pair I purchased is a mule with a kitten heel and very comfortable.  Love, love them. They are very similar to the $800 Bare sandals by The Rowe minus the $800 price tag. Mango has an almost identical pair with limited sizes (check for restocks) and a higher heel.

Belted blazers were all over the runways for spring this year as seen here, here, and here. I will be repurposing all the plaid blazers I bought for fall with a leather belt or my belt bag as seen on the runway here.

White tanks are a staple for spring and men’s style tanks will give a fresh, updated look to girly Spring things. I have this one, and it is fantastic, this one is a classic ribbed style, and this two pack is a cult favorite. This tank from Loft is an inexpensive classic (size down), or you can always go with a 3-pack of men’s tanks as the most economical style choice. The 3-pack is very stiff and a bit uncomfortable; I soak them in a bucket of water with a cup of salt for three days and wash them before I ever wear them.

Utility pants and jackets made a huge showing, and I can’t wait to style the pieces that I have owned for years. I like to style my cargo pants with a halter and heels for date night and toss my utility jacket over a slip dress. Styling utility pieces this way keeps them from being too frumpy, and it dresses down an otherwise fancy dress and allows me to wear it more frequently. I love the cargo pants here and here (both under $30). This jacket I bought last year is on sale, and I love this under $20 utility jacket too.

Animal prints are big for Spring but when are they not, am I right? You can never have enough leopard print, never. This badass leopard dress will be perfect on its own, under a blazer for work, with a cardigan, or worn as a skirt with a sweater on top. This leopard skirt will be perfect for Spring; wear it with tanks, tees, halter tops, and light sweaters. My favorite leopard heels are a great way to dress up jeans and a tee. And if you’re shy about the leopard trend this belt is an excellent starter piece.

Moc croc is another spring trend, but this has been a staple in my closet for years. I love a moc croc bag, and I have this one, this one, and I recently got this one. I love this bag that combines two trends and this black and white bag. Mango has this moc croc double belt bag, and this belt bag is on sale for $40. A pair of moc croc sandals will slide right into any closet, and you can wear them with jeans, pants, shorts, and dresses. I love this pair and this pair.

The ruched dress trend is the trend that has me the most excited. Ruching on a dress adds curves on a thin frame and stretches in the right places for curvy girls (me) who enjoy food and booze. I have worn this dress twice, and I just ordered this dress. This dress is a cult favorite, and this dress is a cute option to wear with Converse for picnics at the lake.

Bucket bags are still on trend for Spring. I just bought this one, and I adore it. I also have this one in brown and this one. This bag is everywhere, and it is the one bag I do not have. A dupe can be found here.

Pearls are back, but they are not like my granny’s. Think more substantial and more sculpturally interesting pieces. These earrings are an updated version of the classic hoop, this pair has an unusual shape, and this pair is gorgeous. And don’t forget the pearl hair clips, as seen everywhere, a 3-pack can be found here for $8.

One basket bag is never enough for Spring. After you have your classic basket bag that goes with everything, start having fun with shapes and sizes. Pick up a basket bag, or ten, with a few extra embellishments. I added a dressier version of the basket bag (see photo). A fun basket bag is a quick way to add a spring touch to classic cardigans and button downs. I linked many versions of the basket bag below.
