Mexico, The Game Of Life, And Recreation

Mexico And Recreating Your Life

My cousin moved to Mexico years ago, and I stayed with him for a few days last week while I vacationed in Guadalajara. I knew I would write a blog post about my trip, so I asked what his favorite things about living there were, he said, “The sense of freedom, recreating his life, and the vibrant culture.” His response to the life he built in Mexico is the same response I give when people ask me how my life has changed since my divorce, the last one, not the first one. Good or bad, it is what it is.

While my cousin chose to move to Mexico and recreate his life, my divorce was an unfortunate incident that I had to deal with, although I would have preferred not to. The game of life has a way of playing us sometimes, well-played life, well played. But, I choose to look at life as a series of games, and just because one game ends does not mean life is over. I mean, I’m only 40ish, so I have many years to keep playing.

The Market

Each weekend my cousin and his partner go to the market. This activity inspired me to pay closer attention to eating more fresh, locally sourced food. The market in Mexico was so beautiful with all the fresh produce.

San Juan Cosalá

I got to take a little solo road trip to San Juan Cosalá, and the beauty of the flowers reminded me of the beauty of recreation. The flowers may die, but if the plant stays strong, it recreates a new bloom.

So life knocked me down, that’s cool. I always get back up, and once I heal, I have a sense of freedom from whatever trial I had to face to recreate my life and live as vibrantly as possible. Vibrant to me being neutral colors, but everything matches {ha}. Recreation is how I live my best life.

Have you ever had to recreate your life? Tell me how and why in the comments.
